Increasing numbers of flyLAL passengers determine growth of Vilnius Airport flows

In April, the air company flyLAL reached 69% passengers number growth rate and sustained the status of the leader in Vilnius Airport. Beside, growing flow of flyLAL passengers was the major reason for the growth of a number of passengers of Vilnius Airport.

During April, 63% more passengers departed from Vilnius by flyLAL aircrafts than during the same period last year. At present, the airline carries mostly air travellers from Vilnius. Total flow of flyLAL passengers, including flights from other airports, increased by nearly 70% if compared with the last April‘s figures. Since the beginning of the year, the flow of airline‘s passengers from Vilnius increased by over 32%.

„These rates demonstrate that we have made the right choice of intensive development strategy and key business directions – flyLAL is capable of satisfying the needs of Lithuanian inhabitants and citizens of neighbouring countries by the selected flight directions and proper pricing. We hope as soon as this July, the number of passengers using our services will be two times bigger than during the respective period last year", said Director of flyLAL Development Department Erikas Zubrus.

He emphasised that the flow of flyLAL passengers increased in April (21 841 passengers) accounts for approximately 56% of the increased flow at Vilnius Airport (38 790 passengers) in April.

„Our company carries slightly more than one third of all passengers of the airport, but our passengers account for over one half of the total increased flow of the airport. The increase in the flow of passengers at Vilnius Airport is mainly caused by flyLAL growth“, said E. Zubrus.

According to him, this fact shows that plans of Vilnius Airport regarding passengers flows are directly related with the intentions of flyLAL to aspire its target - to carry 1 million passengers during a year.
