Latvian riders led by a candidate to win Estonia for the Sidecar World Championship points

To participate in the Sidecar World Championship stage, which will take place on the 22th-23th of August in Estonian town of Kiviõli, has already registered 40 teams from 14 States.

The most important motorcycle event of the year is to attract to Estonia the world's motorsport elite, led by seven-time world champion Daniel Willemsen. “All of the 15 so far best teams will start hunting the World Championship points in Kiviõli”, authority of the event Are Kaurit said.

Real chances of victory have Latvian rider Kaspars Liepins, acting together with Belgian rider Yoris Hendricks. This team holds so far the second place in the championship and will do everything to stop the current champion Willemsen from winning he’s eighth title. As well as the other strongest team – Belgian crew Jan Hendrickx/Tim Smeuninx. Because of some injuries, Willemsen’s team descended to the fourth place by now.

Latvia will also be represented in these prestigious competitions by the teams of Janis Daiders/Lauris Daiders (5th place so far), Maris Rupeiks/Haralds Kurpnieks (7th place so far), Kaspars Stupelis, who is riding together with Belgian Nicky Pulinx (11th place) and Elvijs Mucenieks, who is sharing a team with an Estonian rider Margo Sonn (23th place).

In addition to motorcycles with sidecar the best solo riders from Estonia will arrive to the Kiviõli motofestival – Juss Laansoo, who’s made an amazing career in the USA AMA series, and Gert Krestinov, who is one of the twenty best riders of the world. Serious competition for them will be one of the best Latvian motorcyclists Lauris Freibergs.

„A world class circuit in Kiviõli is the fastest and most technical in Estonia, which will make this motocross harder for the riders and much more fun for the fans”, Are Kaurit said. He himself is the only one Estonian Sidecar World Championship prizewinner – in 2004 he won a bronze medal. The circuit is 1950 meters long and has high drops about 26 meters.

In addition to the sports competitions The Kiviõli Motofestival will offer the public high-class entertainment. The best riders from Moscow will bring to the festival their huge motorcycling freestyle show Freestyle MX. One of the three best riders in Russia Anton Smirnov and Aleksei Aisin, who’s got silver in Russian Freestyle Championship and won The Cup of Russia among juniors, will make their motorcycles fly.

6000 visitors and 200 riders attended the festival last year. Accreditation of journalists is going on at the website www.motokross.ee until the 13th of August.
