First regular Belavia flight to RIGA International Airport

On 19 January a new Belarusian airline Belavia will arrive at RIGA International Airport on its first regular flight on the route Minsk - Riga. We invite you to a welcome ceremony and a press conference.

To welcome the first inbound flight of Belavia we kindly invite you to meet on 19 January at 13:50 on the second level of the airport terminal at the Information Desk next to the Fast Track security control lane. After the welcoming ceremony of Belavia flight at 14:00 the press conference will be held at the VIP Centre conference hall of RIGA International Airport. The press conference will be attended by HE Alexander Gerasimenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Latvia, Igor Chergenec, Deputy Director-general of Belavia and Krišjānis Peters, Chairman of the Board of RIGA International airport.

The media representatives will have the opportunity to meet the crew of the first Minsk-Riga flight and visit the aircraft.

Belavia will be the first new airline to open traffic to RIGA International Airport in 2010. On 28 March another new airline - Wizz Air - will commence flights to Riga. It is the biggest low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe. Wizz Air will carry passengers from Riga to London (Luton), Turku and Oslo.

The national carrier airBaltic, too, provides regular traffic from Riga to Minsk.

From Minsk Belavia offers flights to 27 direct destinations in Europe, Russia and the CIS. There are 16 aircrafts in the fleet of the Belarusian carrier: five Boeing 737-500, three Boeing 737-300, three CRJ- 100/200 LR and five Tu-154M.

Belavia holds approximately 56 per cent of Belarus’s passenger air traffic market. The airline performs regular flights to 30 airports in 20 countries.
