airBaltic to Discontinue Tartu-Riga

Latvian national airline airBaltic wrote history by opening the first international flight out of Tartu airport in July 2009. After two years of operation, airBaltic has decided to discontinue flights from August 1.

Jānis Vanags, Vice President Corporate Communications of airBaltic: “airBaltic was the historic first airline to connect Tartu via North Hub Riga to 80 destinations in Europe, Middle East, Russia/CIS. This flight has given Tartu people access to many business and holiday destinations. Despite the popularity of airBaltic’s flight, Tartu airport has not been able to guarantee high standard of service. This week’s incident with missing controllers in the tower was a repeated one. airBaltic is offering the highest standard of services to its customers, and cannot accept more cancellations in Tartu, just because the airport is not functioning as it should be. Our customer is our priority. ”

airBaltic apologizes to those passengers who experience inconvenience do to this, and invites to contact airBaltic representatives. All involved passengers will be offered alternatives based on individual needs.

airBaltic serves 80 destinations from its home base in Riga, Latvia. From every one of these, airBaltic offers convenient connections via North Hub Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.
