All of airBaltic’s Airbus A220-300 Carrying the Names of Most Beloved Latvian Cities

All of airBaltic’s As airBaltic received its 14th Airbus A220-300 aircraft last weekend, names of all 14 most beloved Latvian cities have now been painted on the aircraft. To honor the Centenary of Latvia, airBaltic wants to raise Latvia’s international profile even more by naming 14 of its Airbus A220-300 after the most beloved cities of Latvia.

Martin Gauss, airBaltic CEO: “As the leading export brand of Latvia, we are investing to promote the name of Latvia across the globe. As more of our aircraft were named in honor of different Latvian cities, in November airBaltic passengers were able to read short articles about each of them also in our inflight magazine Baltic Outlook.”

Overall, more than 98 000 votes were received. With 9 183 votes, Cēsis finished first, followed by Alūksne, Valmiera, Kuldīga and Smiltene. Ogre, Līvāni, Bauska, Gulbene, Rīga, Jelgava, Liepāja, Jūrmala and Sigulda also made the Top 14.

The Airbus A220-300 offers excellent flying experience with such benefits for passengers as wider seats, larger windows, more hand luggage space in the cabin, improved lavatories and more. New aircraft is also much quieter – with four times smaller noise footprint. Moreover, at the moment, it is the greenest commercial aircraft in the world, as it is the first aircraft to have a transparent declaration of the life-cycle environmental impact, helping to reduce CO2 and NOX emissions by 20% and 50% respectively.
