Airport Riga will upgrade boarding pass control devices

On Friday, October 8, upgrading works have started at the departure terminal of Riga Airport to upgrade boarding pass control devices – e-Gates. The works will continue until the end of October.

Four of the six e-Gates currently installed at the airport departure terminal will be replaced with new devices to make technical improvements and speed up the service to passengers and lessen the necessity to conduct manual document control.

“Investments in upgrading of the technological provisions at the airport simultaneously ensure investments into provision of an advanced and convenient service to the passengers, while also improving the working environment for our personnel. While the number of passengers has not returned to the pre-crisis volume, we purposefully use this period to improve the airport work processes,” explained Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Airport Board.

While the e-Gates are being reconstructed during the period from October 8 to the end of the October, only one electronic document control gate and two manual control locations will operate; therefore, the departing passengers should take into account that queues might form at the boarding pass controls, especially during morning and evening hours. We apologise to our passengers for any inconveniences and invite you to plan your arrival for the flight in a timely manner: at least two hours before the scheduled departure.

The costs of equipment upgrade, including purchase, installation and warranty service, form 83 thousand euros which will be covered by the Airport’s own funds. The equipment is supplied by the French manufacturer Impression Enregistre Resultat SAS. The boarding pass control e-Gates currently in use have been used for almost 10 years.
