Enter a Festival World at Riga’s International Christmas bazaar

A festive atmosphere and warm welcome is guaranteed for everyone visiting the International Christmas Bazaar, organised by the International Women’s Club of Riga, on 28 November. It will take place in Riga at Radisson Blu Hotel (Elizabetes 55) between 11a.m.—5p.m.

This will be the 14th annual Christmas Bazaar and for the first time, every visitor will have an opportunity to bid for exciting ‘Lots’ in a ‘Live’ auction. This auction starts at 2p.m. and here is just a selection of the fabulous items you can bid for: airBaltic Business Class tickets for two persons to any direct destination offered by the airline; Blackberry Curve mobile phone, courtesy of Bite Latvija; cruise to Stockholm with Tallink; opportunity to spend a wonderful weekend at Vihula Manor Country Club and the Schlossle Hotel; and an excellent meal at the renowned Vincents restaurant.

There is also an exclusive offer for collectors and sports fans - a hockey stick signed by the legendary Arturs Irbe and an authentic reproduction of the Canadian ice-hockey player’s Sidney Crosby hockey shirt from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. ‘Fashionistas’ will love the chance to create their own Fashion and Catwalk Show; one of three exciting ‘experiences’ offered by Klass. The silent auction, with more than 60 outstanding lots, will be just as exciting.

Food and wine lovers will delight in the gourmet treats available to taste and buy at 18 foreign Embassy and National tables. Ice-hockey and maple syrup fans will be pleased by the Canadian offering and those eager for an extraordinary taste should not miss the Korean stand, with its tempting Asian delights.

The First Advent is the perfect time to consider original and handcrafted gifts for yourself and your loved ones. The local Latvian producers, Embassy and Club tables at the International Christmas Bazaar will provide a wide selection to help you find just what you are looking for.

All the profits from the event will be donated to Latvian charities, thus making a brighter day for those who need our help. Last year the International Christmas Bazaar was opened by the former president Ms Vaira Vike-Freiberga and it raised 11 000LVL for local charities. This money allowed the International Women’s Club of Riga to help Hope for Children, Missions of Charity, Chabad Soup Kitchen, Latvian Samaritans’ care centre, Martinmaja, the Vītolu Foundation and many other charities.

The International Women’s Club of Riga is a non-governmental organisation which was founded in 1992. Currently club membership stands at around 100 women from 32 countries; they take an active part in exploring the culture of Latvia and implementing various charity projects.
