Riga Airport has Handled 800 Thousand Passengers in the First Two Months of the Year

Preliminary data on Airport performance show that in the first two months of this year, almost 800 thousand passengers used Riga Airport for their travels.

In February, the number of passengers at the Airport slightly exceeded 385 thousand, which is 11 % less than in the Airport’s best year in terms of passenger traffic – in February 2019.

Direct passenger numbers in both February and the first two months of the year combined are almost back to the pre-pandemic level, only 4 % behind the corresponding period of 2019.

One fifth or 77.6 thousand passengers used Riga Airport in February as a connecting airport to their further destinations, with the number of transit passengers lagging behind the 2019 figure by about one third due to geopolitical reasons.

Almost 198 thousand passengers, or just over half, were carried by the national airline airBaltic in February, followed by the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair with 117 thousand passengers. Ireland, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Malta continue to dominate the list of the most popular destinations.

In February, 3783 aircraft took off and landed at Riga Airport, of which 3438 were passenger flights.
