airBaltic Continues Growth Path – Passenger Numbers Up 19%

he Latvian national airline airBaltic continues the beginning of the year strongly, carrying 277 800 passengers in February 2024 – a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. During the winter season, when the demand traditionally declines, consistently stable indicators of transported passengers can still be observed within a single month. In February, airBaltic performed 2 840 flights, marking an 11% increase from the previous year.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “During the first two months of 2024, we have carried more than half a million passengers, confirming our position as the preferred airline in the Baltic States. This year, our focus is on expanding our fleet and destinations to offer passengers a wide range of travel options, which is attracting significant interest from travelers. With more than 130 routes in operation, we are connecting our home bases to the globe more extensively than ever before.”

In the upcoming summer season, airBaltic plans to add 15 new routes – 7 from Latvia, 3 from Estonia, 4 from Lithuania and 1 from Tampere. Additionally, the airline plans to increase flight frequencies on routes from Riga to Rome, Prague, and more, as well, as from Vilnius to Paris, Munich, Tallinn, and from Palanga to Riga.

Recently, airBaltic Group reported an all-time record profit of EUR 34 million for 2023. In the same year, the airline carried more than 4.5 million passengers and performed over 44 thousand flights.

airBaltic operates more than 130 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere and, seasonally, Gran Canaria, offering connections to a wide range of destinations in the airline's route network in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
