The new year has begun with new events – the Valmiera Tourism information Centre in cooperation with the counties of Beverīna, Burtnieki and Kocēni has released the 2020 Event guide, composed of exciting events for everyone. We welcome guests from near and far in cultural, educational, recreational events and festivals. Every month will surprise with special events for both children and adults.
In the guide you can read about the sound of winter in Valmiera, which kicks off the International winter music festival "Gadsimti spēlējas" ("Centuries are playing"), which will take place from January 13th until the 19th. Plan to visit the home-made goods fares in both the Valmiermuiža palace park and in Valmiera to soak up inspiration, celebrate nature and purchase various treats. In April, a creative atmosphere will prevail in Valmiera – Valmiera Art days, from April 1st until May 1st, when art will be found in such places, where we usually don’t expect to see it. It will make us look at the beauty of movement, meanwhile during the Valmiera Restaurant week, from April 18th until the 25th, works of art can also be tasted.

In May (8.-9.05.) go on an adventure – in Valmiera and its region, in various unusual places on a Friday evening cinemas will be open, and guests will reach these places by bicycle, but the next day – exciting routes with a game for bicycle enthusiasts of all ages. It will be already the fifth installment of the bicycle and cinema festival "Kino pedālis" ("Cinema pedal"). Meanwhile on May 9th, in the Valmiera Leisure there will be a symphony of sounds, colors, lights and tastes – Magical feeling night. In June, in the Valmiermuiža palace park the ethno festivāl "SVIESTS 2020" (13.06.) will take place. As the summer solstice approaches, this festival will gather explorers of traditions and lovers of various nations and genres of music. In July, the city of Valmiera invites everyone to it’s 737th birthday. During the Valmiera City festivities (24.-26.07.) guests will be treated with various concerts, a celebratory march, sporty, fun activities and cultural events. The even guide in August is marked with the SUP festival in Vaidava (1-2.08.) – it’s time to find out, what is SUP, try it out, take part in competitions and other fun activites. From August 7. until the 9th everyone is welcome to join the Valmiera summer theatre festival to enjoy great theatre performances in unusual locations.
August will be capped off with the Tomāto festivities in Brenguļi (29.08.). In September the streets of Valmiera will be transformed into seas of runners – on September 20th take part or support others in the "Sportlat" Valmiera marathon! In October, when evenings start to come faster, relive the legends in Kokmuiža! We invite everyone to spend November in the spirit of Latvia’s national holidays. Surrounded by candles and lights, we will go on a torch march commemorating the day of Lāčplēsis, thank both the Honorary and Citizen of the year in Valmiera, as well as await the 102th birthday of Latvia together. In November the Valmiera Restaurant week also invites everyone. From November 7th until the 14th the vitamins of autumn will not only color a healthy blush on the cheeks, but will also create wonderful paintings on plates. December will inspire to feel the Magic of Christmas in Valmiera.
