Bavaria Weissbier, BMW museum and Bayern FC match shall be easily reachable to Lithuanians after two hours flight. As of 15 November the Lithuanian low-cost company Star1 Airlines starts flying from Vilnius to the capital of Bavaria Munich.
“Having reduced the charter flight program in winter we are offering new regular routes. Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is an important destination both, for business people and leisure tourists. The third largest city in Germany hosts such worldwide known companies like BMW, Siemens, Linde. Also, the fans of skiing have already started booking hotels for summer season - Munich is located just a few hours ride from the Alps”, says Martynas Laivys, the head of Star1 Airlines.
German tourists should also like the new route. Doctor Maik Huettinger, aviation specialist and senior assistant professor at ISM University of Management and Economics, who is himself originally from Bavaria, says: "This is a sensible decision of the airline. Bavaria is one of the richest regions in Europe and has no well developed supply of low-cost flights. Therefore the Lithuanian low-cost airline is taking the right niche".
Star1 Airlines being the third air carrier from Vilnius according to passenger flows, shall fly to Munich as of 15 November on Mondays and Fridays.
