The Swedish ferry company Stena Line is strengthening its position and expanding its services in the Baltic Sea region, this year by assigning two new, large and modern ferries on the route between Ventspils in Latvia and Ninashamna in Sweden. The first of them Stena Scandica arrived at the port of Ventspils on Tuesday, June 29, and is ready for the first voyage, which will take place on Friday, July 2. The ferry has a 70% increase in cabin capacity compared to existing vessels, as well as almost a third more cargo capacity.
The new ferry Stena Scandica is 222 m long and is 30% larger than the existing ferries on this route. Its cabin capacity is 70% higher than existing ferries, and passengers are guaranteed a pleasant and modern journey on board. There is a restaurant and bar on board with panoramic sea views, as well as entertainment for both adults and children. The ship is equipped with several functions to offer more sustainable transport across the Baltic Sea.
Stena Scandica arrived in Ventspils on the morning of Tuesday, June 29, and will stay in the port to prepare for the first trip to Ninashamna on July 2. Ventspils ‒ Ninashamna is the shortest route between the Baltics and Scandinavia.
