As part of the European Capital of Culture year program, the annual international jazz artists contest "Riga Jazz Stage 2014" will be held in the Latvian capital again in April, where young jazz musicians from over 15 different countries will compete and perform.
Musicians participating in the competition, which will be held from April 3 to 5, will compete in two different categories - "Jazz vocal" and "Jazz saxophone". The contest itself provides an opportunity for young talents to prove themselves in jazz music, gain visibility and stage experience, as well as present themselves internationally.

The musical performances of contestants will be evaluated by a competent international jury which will consist of professionals – musicians, producers and festival directors. The winner of "Riga Jazz Stage 2014" will receive a EUR 6,000 award, as well as an invitation to perform at several international jazz festivals in the Baltic sea region, including "Rīgas Ritmi".
The first international competition for young jazz musicians in Riga was held in 2004. Since then, it has grown into a well-known competition, featuring many up and coming jazz stars from all over Europe and elsewhere.
"Riga Jazz Stage 2014" is an excellent opportunity for persons to hear first-hand up and coming jazz musicians from all over Europe.
