Five suggestions where you can spend cold evenings in Latvia.
1. Go skiing!

Although the weather in Latvia is often driving us crazy, we still have the advantage that, when the right season comes, we can enjoy the pleasures of winter. Use the opportunity to go skiing to one of Latvia’s ski resorts. Closer to Riga city in Baldone, is a ski complex Riekstukalns that provides 10 tracks of different lenght, but if you are ready to drive further away, in Cesis side there are two ski complexes - Zagarkalns and Ozolkalns. Average price of a ski pass for two hours on weekends in ski bases in Latvia is around EUR 10.
2. Enjoy relaxing day at Hotel Jurmala Spa Centre
When it is cold outside, this is a great opportunity to hide from the coldness by relaxing at Hotel Jurmala Spa sauna and pool center "Wellness Oasis". Paying 18 EUR, you can spend an unlimited period of time in the Spa center. You will have the opportunity to swim in the pools, relax in the jacuzzi or rest in any of the five different saunas.
3. Go to waterpark "Livu akvaparks"
If you prefer a little more energetic water activities, visit the waterpark "Livu akvaparks". It will be thrilling to anyone - both children and adults. Adrenaline lovers will enjoy the most extreme tube in the waterpark, which has an inclination of 45 degrees at the start; the kids will have lots of fun in attractions for children, and the ladies will be able to relax in the sauna and as well as enjoy the massage fountains. Day ticket for adults on weekends - 28 EUR.
4. Go to the movies
February is the perfect time to go to the movie theatre because of the approaching Academy Film Awards ceremony. Go watch any of the nominated films to choose your favourite one to keep your fingers crossed for the Oscar’s night, on the 2nd of March. The average price for movie ticket on weekends is EUR 6.
5. Visit Valmiermuiza brewery
If you head over to Vidzeme side, visit Valmiermuiza brewery to learn how their famous beer is made and how to properly taste it. The duration of the visit and beer tasting in Valmiermuiza is 1.5 hour, but it is also possible to stay longer and enjoy the company of your friends and taste more of the treats provided by hosts if a prior agreement has been made. Price per person is EUR 6.
