Masks on planes - «airBaltic» also accepts a doctor's mark in Latvian

Just like an unpleasant incident in Estonia, the captain of a plane flying from Warsaw to Tallinn has informed the authorities about a passenger who refused to wear a face mask during the flight. The incident ended almost or happily, but the question is open - what can passengers do who are not allowed to wear face masks due to health problems - stay home and wait for the pandemic to end?

The face mask must be used on airBaltic flights for all passengers, except children under the age of 6 or passengers with medical reasons, based on a certificate issued by a medical authority. The regulatory enactments do not specify the language in which the document certifying the face mask must be - documents on Latvian airBaltic flights from Riga will always be valid in both Latvian and English, ”explains Alise Briede, Head of Corporate Communications at the Latvian national airline to Travelnews.lv.

She points out that, in general, airBaltic passengers are understanding and responsible for the additional security requirements introduced during a pandemic. "In cases where a passenger refuses to comply with security requirements, he or she may be denied boarding or may be classified as an undisciplined passenger with the following consequences," says Alise Briede.

AirBaltic requires passengers to adhere strictly to all regulations and requirements issued by the relevant authorities. Passengers are strongly advised to check travel rules and restrictions at airports before traveling on official websites or at local embassies. Rules are changing rapidly and vary from country to country, so passengers are always encouraged to make sure they have the latest information to ensure a comfortable journey.
