The 11th edition of the international new music and urban culture festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW) is scheduled to take place in Tallinn, from 25 to 31 March 2019.
TMW's core is the new music festival and Creative Impact conference. The festival's side events cover arts, design, public talks, music-related workshops for kids, and the showcase of the best restaurants in North-Tallinn. It's a citywide celebration of talent and creativity, named one of Europe's best festivals of the season.

All Tomorrow's Parties
The three-day music programme from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th March offers a multi-genre mix from the edgiest sounds to chart pop, and from folk to contemporaryclassical. Estonia's own talent pool is represented by cross-generational multi-genre selection from the glorious nosie-rockers Zahir to the entrancing duo of Maarja Nuut & Ruum.
No FoMo!
While showcasing the most diverse sounds and genres from all over the world, TMW's aim is to offer a genuinely user-friendly festival experience, therefore all the venues are located within short walking distance from Telliskivi Creative Hub, the Estonian Academy of Arts and Port Noblessner.
Arts as the engine of ecomomy
TMW conference at the Estonian Academy of Arts on March 29th and 30th will focus on the impact of arts on the economy. A special emphasis will be put on film music and the role of arts in urban and regional development.

Some of the central figures of the conference will be the polymath musician Barry Adamson who has enlivened British music for decades – from playing bass in the most influential bands of the 20th century to working with the film industry's intriguing mavericks like Derek Jarman and David Lynch. The keynote speaker on the role of arts in regeneration of cities is Gunvor Kronman, who has put arts in charge of economy in Helsinki.
Burning questions within and beyond music
TMW Talks creates a public friendly arena for battling hot topics within and beyond music culture AD 2019 starting with an honest look in the mirror. What goes on in the hearts and minds as well as purses and wallets of showcase festivals will be shared in a candid discussion about best and worst practices. Television will be put on the spot as its role reflecting the changing music culture is on the brink of becoming obsolete. On the soft and cuddly end of the spectre, some old punks will show up to celebrate Stupido Records' 30th anniversary with style. Dare to hear and come armed with questions!
Art saves
A special programme of contemporary arts curated by the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC). The gallery evening with extended opening hours called Tallinn Thursday includes projects from both Estonian and international artists, group and solo exhibitions.
We couldn't imagine Creative City with gray walls and, frankly, we don't have a memory like that. On Saturday 30th March a street art tour will take place in the Creative City of Telliskivi, which will look into the interior of the works of art, while trying to remember whether there was ever a pre-street art era in Telliskivi.
On Friday 29th March Estonian Design Center invites TMW visitors to a curated design tour around the Telliskivi Creative City. The tour will focus on introducing Creative City-based designers who are running their studios with circular economy principles in mind. They will share their thoughts on why sustainability is a major topic and why both designers and consumers should set their eyes on it.
