From August 31 until September 3, travelers in Tallinn airport and harbours must go through border control and the Estonia-Latvia land border may only be crossed through temporary border points due to the visit of United States President Barack Obama.
The temporary border control will begin on Sunday, August 31 at 2 PM, and will last until the end of the president’s visit on the evening of September 3. During this time, even people only travelling within the EU must also go through passport control when entering Estonia.
The Police and Border Guard Board will prepare ten temporary border control points on the Estonia-Latvia border, three of which will be in Valga.
The police recommends avoiding the city centre area on September 3. Most of the traffic restrictions will be during 9.30 in the morning and 17.30. No major traffic restrictions are planned before 9.30.
Additional information about the restoring of border control may be found on the web page www.politsei.ee and on weekdays from 8-18 from the Police and Border Guard Board information number +372 612 3000.
