Riga becomes the home of the world hockey championship 2021

On February 2nd, 2021, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced that the 2021 World Championship organization would be entrusted to Riga, Latvia. This means that Latvia's capital will host 16 hockey teams in June of this year, but most likely, there will be no supporters allowed.
So, good and bad news simultaneously. It was planned that Riga would host the 2021 hockey championship, but only in subgroup B. However, following the decision to withdraw the tournament from Minsk, Belarus, due to political reasons, on February 2nd, it became official that all 16 teams will play in Latvia.
This news might be great news for Riga's tourism infrastructure - at least one hotel will be "fully-booked."
This tournament, which is usually attended by thousands of Latvian hockey fans, will probably take place without spectators (this year), but more on that will be decided later.
