Riga Airport Starts the Year with a Passenger Increase

Operational data on Airport performance in the first month of the year show that this January, Riga International Airport handled 246 thousand passengers, or almost five times more than a year before.

The two largest passenger carriers in January were the national airline airBaltic with 49.9 % or almost 122 thousand passengers and the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, which carried 73.4 thousand passengers or 29.8 % of the total number of passengers to and from Riga.

The air cargo turnover at Riga Airport in January reached 2449 tonnes, which is an increase of 28 % as compared to January 2021. About two thirds of the total cargo volume is carried by cargo flights, and one third – by passenger aircraft.

Last month, 3 886 aircraft arrived and departed at Riga Airport, of which 3 158 were passenger, 234 cargo and 494 business, military, technical and other flights.
