Work Begins on the Design of the New Multi-storey Car Park of Riga Airport

RIX Riga Airport's new multi-storey car park will be designed by the company “BM-projekts”, which won the tender announced by Riga Airport. The future car park will be located next to the new Airport terminal building and will provide more than 400 short-term parking spaces right next to the new terminal.

Continuing stage six of Airport expansion, Riga Airport has signed a contract with the company “BM-projekts” for the development of a multi-level car park construction design. The car park building is planned to have four floors and will be connected to the Airport – “Rail Baltica" station gallery, flyover and access roads. The contract provides for safe pedestrian movement solutions to be included in the construction design both for getting to the Airport terminal and the railway station, as well as the possibility of parking motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles.

A monitoring system for determining and indicating free parking spaces, passenger elevators, Airport information monitors, vending machines for hot drinks and snacks, electric car charging points, call points for passengers with limited mobility and other equipment that will make arrival and stay at the Airport more comfortable for everyone are provided at all levels of the car park. Environmental accessibility requirements will need to be met throughout the building.

It is planned to set up solar panels on the roof of the car park, and in general, the project plans to use efficient, rational and sustainable construction materials and equipment.

The contract stipulates that the contractor must develop a complete construction design from the minimum construction design and coordinate it with the construction board within nine months. The amount of the contract is 248 thousand euros. The construction of the multi-storey car park is one of the stages in the implementation of the RIX Riga Airport new passenger terminal project.
