International music festival "Rīgas ritmi" is coming closer

The international music festival “Rīgas Ritmi” (Rhythms of Riga) is one of the most popular and favorite music festivals in Latvia, taking place in Riga on the first week of July every year, gathering high-class artists such as Bobby McFerrin, “Take 6”, Richard Bona, “BBC Big Band”, Buika, Astillero, Jojo Mayer, "Medeski Martin & Wood", Robert Glasper, Diane Schuur, Pat Metheny, James Morrison, Mike Dawes, Yasmin Levy, Bugge Weseltoft, Paolo Fresu, Christian Scott, and others. Each year, the festival introduces the audience to young and talented musicians from Latvia as well.

Besides concerts, the festival also offers music master class performances at the legendary Latvian Radio 1 studio, as well as the "Rīgas Ritmu Showcase" project, the aim of which is to present the best Latvian jazz, improvisation, and world music performers to foreign producers, journalists, and festival organizers.

This year, "Rīgas Ritmi" is taking place for the 16th time already, offering unforgettable experiences in various venues in Riga.

Among the festival's main artists in the summer of 2016 is the jazz vocal diva Dianne Reeves, pianist-prodigy Justin Kauflin, Brazilian guitar duo Cainã Cavalcante & Michael Pipoquinha, the explosive French accordionist Vincent Peirani together with saxophonist Emile Parisien, the "dream team" Dave Weckl Accoustic Band, as well as the Australian multi-instrumentalist James Morrison together with Latvian Radio Big Band, as part of the project "Mare Balticum".

"The festival is a genuine celebration of rhythms!" says Bruce Lindsay, "All About Jazz".

Besides concert performances at the Riga Congress Center, many additional venues in Riga, too, will host concerts from June 29 to July 2, 2016. Among them - open-air recreational park "Egle", Daugava Concert Hall, "Origo Summer Stage", the newly-opened jazz music club "Trompete", and others.

Tickets to individual performances, as well as Supertickets to all performances at the Riga Congress Center are available at all "Biļešu Paradīze" booking-offices and online.
