Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town is reopening with increased safety measures

Advanced disinfection procedures, wide time gaps between guests accommodated in the same room and a new breakfast concept are among the measures meant to keep the guests safe.

Starting June 1st, Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town is resuming operations and is ready to welcome tourists with increased safety measures meant to offer them one of the safest stays.

One of the main health safety measures will be leaving a gap of 3 days (72 hours) before accommodating the next guest in a room. Also, a new concept for breakfast and for room service with disposable packaging, ordering by phone or in place at the restaurant, will ensure social distancing and minimum contact with the other guests.

"The hospitality industry was severely hit by the pandemic and, in order to minimize losses, we stopped operations in the past 2 months. Now, with the implementation of exceptional safety measures and of new concepts for meals & events, we are ready to restart all of the administrative and financial processes of our activity.", says Lauris Gedrovics, General Manager Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town.

Among the changes in the safety measures of the hotels developed and managed by Apex Alliance Hotel Management also are:

• Increasing the frequency of disinfection of public areas

• Limiting the access to the fitness center, depending of the area of the facility

• Replacing cups/glasses in the rooms with plastic items

• Using the elevator only for 1 person/family/couple staying in the same room

• Using protective equipment by all hotel employees

All these measures will be additional to employees’ temperature checking, guest queue management using floor markers to ensure at least one meter distancing and guests seating management – to ensure at least one meter distancing between tables and between seats.

"The COVID-19 pandemic will clearly change the tourism industry, more than any major event before. We will see modernizations of hotels and changes in procedures and concepts. The world is changing and we need to adapt, by offering our guests all the precautionary measures they need, at a fair price. We expect that the industry will start to pick-up in the summer, but overall the tourism sector is estimated to register a decrease of 80% this year compared to 2019. It is a part of the economy that employs considerable amount of people and needs a strong support from the Government in this period", says Gerhard Erasmus.
