Beach Volleyball Player Aleksandrs Samoilovs And His Family Use Recreation

The elite Latvian beach volleyball player Aleksandrs Samoilovs and his family live in Jūrmala. After long journeys and training sessions Aleksandrs prefers to use recreation opportunities offered by the resort town. The park, the beach, pools, spas and restaurants – the athlete, who has won numerous titles, tells about his favourite places for recreation together with his two sons and for romantic evenings with his wife.

The Samoilovs family prefer to spend a day of leisure at Dzintari Forest Park. “Kids love “Jūrmalas Tarzāns” Adventure Park and the path for skaters, where they ride their scooters,” tells Aleksandrs. “Boys are always asking for permission to go to the skate park, but we are not letting them yet, because they are too small.” Kids love to swim too, therefore in winter the family attends pools in Jūrmala and enjoys the beach in summer. “In summer we usually go to the beach in Bulduri, near the rescue station, where the playground is located.” Before the pandemic the family attended Legend Beach too on a regular basis. “When we were looking for a more upscale recreation,” tells the athlete, because Legend Beach has “a warm pool, recliners and a restaurant that offers drinks”.

Aleksandrs Samoilovs chooses Jūrmala also for romantic getaways for two. “Me and my wife usually attend concerts at Dzintari Concert Hall or the spa Lielupe by Semarah Hotels, or we go to a restaurant. "Alongside Kinza House restaurant our favourite places are Faces and 36. līnija,” tells Aleksandrs. “But for the most part we spend time with children. I am gone a lot of time and when I am home, I wish to spend the time unoccupied by training sessions with the whole family.”

Aleksandrs Samoilovs advises friends, who visit Jūrmala in summer, to choose for recreation places further away from the centre. “I prefer the Bulduri–Lielupe beach. It has all the infrastructure, but there are less tourists. I would also advise friends to make use of recreation opportunities on the Lielupe – all water attractions. This time the beach volleyball player took a ride on the river boat "Elizabete" that allows to enjoy a panoramic view of Jūrmala from a different perspective during a trip along the bends of the Lielupe. The boat makes such trips every day at 13:00; 14:30 and 16:00. It awaits guests at Majori pier.

As a person leading an active lifestyle Aleksandrs recommends to exercise on the beach both in summer and in winter, and take a ride on a bike along the city's cycle routes, forest paths and along the coast of the sea on windy days.
