DienvidKurzeme.travel: For the first time, Aizpute will host the Kurzeme Drummers Summit

As part of the Aizpute City Festival, on Sunday, August 11, at 14:00 in the Aizpute Market Square, the Kurzeme Drummers' Summit will take place, gathering over 100 drummers from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

The Baltic Drummers' Summit is the only event of its kind not only in the Baltics but also in Northern Europe. It has already been held five times in Riga, but this year, for the first time, it will move to Kurzeme.

"During the event, several hundred drummers perform various rhythms and songs together in sync. The summit is also unique on the world map, as it is the only event of its kind where a full concert program is performed together with popular Latvian musicians and singers. This will be the sixth drummers' summit, and once again, it is designed to unite drummers and musicians of all generations, as well as to create another historically significant event for Latvia," says Andžejs Grauds, the organizer of the summit and head of Andžejs Grauds Drum School.

This year's special guests will be Igo, Ainars Virga, Fēliks Ķiģelis, Miks Dukurs, and K.R.E.D.O, who will perform popular Latvian hits together with the drummers. The accompanying ensemble will include popular Latvian musicians Ingars Viļums, Andžejs Grauds, Jānis Zvirgzdiņš, and Uldis Beitiņš.

Schedule:
• 11:00 – Setup
• 12:30 – Rehearsal
• 14:00 – Concert

Participants of the summit should bring a drum kit (electric kits are also acceptable), a rug, a drum stool, and other necessary items for drummers (drum kits can also be rented at Andžejs Grauds Drum School). Registration: [email protected] or www.drumsummit.lv.

The Kurzeme Drummers' Summit is organized by Andžejs Grauds Drum School in cooperation with the South Kurzeme Municipality.
