The World’s Smallest Exhibition Hall is a unique 10x10x10 cm transparent cube located in Aizpute, at Pasta Street 6, within the “Linmeijers” building. This unconventional art space allows visitors to view artworks by peeking through the keyhole of a tavern door. The concept and design were created by architect Ivars Šmits, and the hall is managed by the “Linmeijers” association.

A virtual gallery was recently launched in the exhibition hall, showcasing digital artworks through the augmented reality app ART+. The app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, blending art experiences in both physical and digital spaces. Curator Vilis Brūveris highlights that this approach offers a fresh cultural experience, enabling people to engage with art in a novel way.

Currently, the virtual gallery features four digital artworks:
• “What Do You Do to Maintain Your Sanity?” by Anna Priedola and Santa France addresses mental health issues, visualizing tips and data on healthy living.
• “Stone Vows” by Ivo Tauriņš is a radio art piece comparing Latvian wedding traditions from the 20th century to modern times.
• “Plastic Rain” by Maija Demitere and Oleksandr Sirous explores the environmental impact of microplastics, encouraging reflection on daily habits.
• “Friends for Life” by Inga Šlanga emphasizes the emotional bond between humans and their pets.

Alongside the virtual pieces, the exhibition also includes Maija Demitere’s kinetic artwork “Microcosm of Change”, which invites viewers to reflect on humanity’s impact on aquatic ecosystems and climate.

The virtual gallery was developed in collaboration with the “ASTE. Art, Science, Technology, Education” association. The exhibition hall itself was established by “Linmeijers” building owners Vilis Brūveris and Helēna Zīlīte, in partnership with architect Ivars Šmits.
Artworks can be viewed free of charge at any time by peeking through the keyhole of the “Linmeijers” building or using the ART+ app. Additional information about the hall’s activities is available HERE.
