TAVA Invites To Enjoy Latvia Slowly And Presents EDEN Project

Tourism Development State Agency (TAVA) takes part in the International Travel Trade Fair “Balttour 2011” with a stand matching the new tourism promotion concept “Best Enjoyed Slowly” presented to attract attention to Latvia travel offers in tradeshows worldwide. Moreover, TAVA is going to present the project European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) by the European Commission.

“Stand’s roof gives a feeling of cosiness; moving droplets, like those on the brand logo, create a lovely play of light and shades. To intensify the overall feeling, TAVA uses a video made by Vides filmu studija. It’s made as an authentic documentary about Latvia through the eyes of foreign tourists,” the director of TAVA Armands Slokenbergs explains.

TAVA is also going to promote the new Latvian travel portal www.latvia.travel/lv launched last year and aimed to position Latvia as a place where a traveller can slow down to relax, to reach harmony and to discover true values.

Attending TAVA’s stand, visitors will find detailed information on the EDEN Competition held by the European Commission in conjoint with the Ministry of Economics and TAVA for the fifth consecutive year.

“The concept of Latvia’s tourism image matches and complements the idea of EDEN which is aimed to promote the sustainable development of tourism objects by local resources, to show their diversity and quality. Presenting EDEN, we would like to attract a greater attention to the competition so as tourism developers would not miss an opportunity to get massive publicity both in Latvia and Europe sponsored by the EC,” the project manager Armands Muižnieks tells.

This year EDEN competition focuses on restoration of architectural monuments. The competition is open to state and municipal authorities and agencies.

Following successful cooperation between Riga Tourism Development Bureau and TAVA, TAVA’s stand will also present the brand “LiveRiga”.

“Our story about the 500th anniversary since the first Christmas tree was decorated and Riga as the birthplace of this beautiful tradition was a success. Moreover, we will be keeping to this story to make Riga an attractive and popular tourist destination – the best place for Christmas and New Year celebrations. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, Riga will be a year-round magnet for tourists. Presenting Riga as part of Latvia, we reach wider circles of audience. Apart from standard tourist attractions and sights, Riga has much more offer to be enjoyed slowly – art and culture events, plenty of opportunities to enjoy gastronomy and national cuisine, spa, relaxation, active recreation and entertainment,” the director of “LiveRiga” Gastons Neimanis tells.

Find TAVA in the Hall “Travel Latvia!” where travel industry companies will present travel opportunities, hotels and lodgings in Latvia.

The 18th International Travel Trade Fair “Balttour 2011” takes place at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre, Riga, from 11–13 February 2011.
