Liepaja City Birthday on March 18th

March is the month when Liepaja celebrates its birthday with diverse culture and entertainment events. The weekend from the 15th until the 18th of March will feature several concerts and celebratory events.  One of the biggest events – the concert "Liepaja Celebrates" - is in 15 March. The concert will hold performances by popular singers and music groups of Latvia – Ivo Fomins, “The Sound poets”, "Otra puse" etc.

Since 2004 every year on Liepāja birthday there are honored the people of Liepāja who have done something special for the benefit of Liepāja. Liepāja people determine by voting who deserves the title "The man of the year of Liepāja city" ("Gada Liepājnieks"). It has been given in several nominations. A person who has made a lifelong contribution for the development of the city gets a title "The Man of Honor of Liepāja city" ("Goda Liepājnieks").
