The Sigulda Bobsleigh Track was built in 1986, and holds various
bobsleigh, luge and skeleton events throughout the season. The track is
1,420 meters long and features 16 curves. The tracks maximum speed is
125 km/h.
The Sigulda Bobsleigh and Luge Track is one of the rare tracks in
the world open for visitors year-round. Persons can also go atop the
track’s viewing platform on the sixth-floor level, where they will be
able to take in a breathtaking view of the Gauja River Valley, as well
as observe the track from top to finish.
During the winter season (October to March), it is possible to go
down the track using a ‘Vučko’ – a special bob used for sliding
tourists down the track. It is also possible to go down the track with a
real bobsleigh as well during the winter season. However, during the
summer season, tourists can slide down the track using a special summer
bob (May to September).
