In the picturesque town Valmiera (northeastern Latvia), a special recreation park called "Park of Senses" has been created on the steep banks of the Gauja River. Two nature paths have been created, with a total length of 3.3 kilometers.
When walking on these paths, visitors will also be able to view the open-air art gallery of decorated trees, as over 50 trees have been decorated in various colors and designs.

The trees have been decorated by local artists and residents of Valmiera, so to make the paths more colorful during the winter period. When lasting snow cover finally arrives at the park, visitors will have the opportunity to take a stroll wearing special snow-shoes.
People walking on the "Senses Path" (2.7 kilometers) will be able to walk on a special surface made out of pinecones, moss, sand, buckeyes, shingles, pine needles and others. Persons will also be able to test their balance on the path with the help of specially made wooden constructions. This path has been created so that persons can invigorate all of their senses while enjoying the outdoors – smell, touch, taste, sight and sound.
Meanwhile, on the "Path of Knowledge", people will be able to acquaint themselves with the flora and fauna of the area.
One of the park’s main tasks is to acquaint visitors with the diverse nature of the area during the various seasons. The forests smell different in the winter and in the summer, and the flora and fauns also breathes differently each season.
After a refreshing walk, visitors will also be able to spend some time relaxing in the sauna at the Sports Rehabilitation Center, where they will be treated with healthy teas made with local herbs.
