Riga Airport handled 684 000 passengers in August this year, which is 19 percent more than a year before. According to preliminary data on the Airport's performance, the total number of passengers served during the first eight months of the year reached 4.4 million.
The number of transfer passengers reached 23 percent in August thanks to the wide and attractive range of routes offered by the airlines operating in Riga. In comparison, in August 2022, the proportion of travellers who used Riga as a transfer airport was 16 %, and in 2019 – 33 %. Although the recovery of this passenger segment after the pandemic was significantly affected by the markets lost due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, in general, the number of passengers at Riga Airport is recovering similar to the average at Northern European airports.
