«airBaltic» Launches Winter Season with Nine New Routes

The Latvian national airline airBaltic has officially launched its winter 2024 season, introducing nine new routes across its network from bases in Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius. Of these, five routes will depart from Riga, with the season being inaugurated by a celebratory flight from Riga to Madeira (Portugal), which departed today, October 28, 2024. The flight time between Riga and Madeira is approximately 5 hours and 55 minutes.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “As we enter the winter season, our focus remains on meeting passenger demand while strengthening airBaltic's role as a key connector in the Baltics. These new routes reflect our commitment to offering more travel opportunities for both leisure and business travelers, enhancing connectivity across the region and beyond. For those looking to escape the cold, we are introducing sunny destinations like Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, and the beautiful island of Madeira. For winter sports enthusiasts, we’ve added flights to Innsbruck, Kittilä, and Oslo Torp, providing easy access to top ski resorts and snowy adventures. There is something for everyone, ensuring a perfect winter getaway tailored to different preference.”

"Moreover, we are thankful for the continued cooperation with our long-standing partner, RIX Riga Airport. The airport has played a key role in supporting airBaltic’s growth over the past 29 years and enhancing connectivity in the Baltics and beyond. We are proud to celebrate this milestone as part of the airport’s 50th anniversary and look forward to continuing our strong partnership."

Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of RIX Riga Airport: “A strong national carrier is a vital asset for driving economic growth and ensuring strategic connectivity. airBaltic not only enhances our competitive advantage in the region but also propels the future development of Riga Airport as an growing hub in Northern Europe. With an expanded network of destinations and increased frequency on popular routes, airBaltic's winter schedule offers extensive options from Riga for both business travel and winter recreation.”
