Passenger Numbers at Riga Airport Increase by 9 Percent

This February, Riga Airport served 433 000 passengers, bringing the total number of travellers since the beginning of the year to approximately 900 000, which is an 9 % increase compared to the first two months of 2024. Similarly, the number of flights handled by the Airport increased by 8 % in February and by 10 % since the beginning of the year.

A stable 20 % of all passengers continue to use Riga Airport as a transit/transfer hub. The average flight occupancy remains high at around 75 %. The most popular destination countries for flights from Riga are the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden.

In February, the majority of passengers at Riga Airport were carried by Latvian national airline airBaltic, followed by the Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair with 35 % of passengers.

Thanks to the regular cargo connection provided to Riga by, Lufthansa Cargo the volume of aviation cargo handled at Riga Airport has increased by more than 20 % compared to the beginning of 2024. Since the start of the year, over 3 000 tonnes of aviation cargo have been processed at Riga Airport.
