Tallinn Music Week set up a stage at Positivus Festival

Tallinn Music Week and European Capital of Culture Tallinn set up a stage at Positivus Festival!

On 15 and 16 July the largest music festival of the Baltics Positivus will take place in Latvia’s seaside resort Salacgriva, where in addition to world renowned main acts like Editors, James, Röyksopp, Mark Ronson & Business Intl and Hurts also ten artists from Estonia will perform. For the first time Positivus has joined forces with Tallinn Music Week.

On Friday 15 July the winners of Skype prize of Tallinn Music Week Ewert and the Two Dragons and Iiris will perform as well as Malcolm Lincoln from Universal record label and Ki En Ra & Dragan Volta. Also the most exciting groups of the new generation who have caught the eye at Tallinn Music Week like Aides, Badass Yuki, Junk Riot, Kreatiivmootor, Mimicry and Nevesis will perform.

”We have invited to the festival best Estonian bands every year that have been sticking out in Latvia – good examples this time are Iiris and Ewert and The Two Dragons –, but we think that the presence of Estonian and Lithuanian bands should be larger and the cooperation between the music industry of our countries stronger. The cooperation with Tallinn Music Week is very positive,” comments Girts Majors, the organizer of Positivus festival.

Tallinn Music Week participates at Positivus Festival together with European Capital of Culture and the team of Katel, to introduce to Latvian public Estonian music and the plans and perspectives of Tallinn 2011 foundation as well as a new open creative centre – Katel – that is looking for international cooperation partners.

”The fact, that 10 Estonian bands perform at the largest festival in Latvia is a proof that Estonian music is attracting more and more interest every year and many artists have been invited to important festivals in Europe in the autumn,” comments Tallinn Music Week organizer Helen Sildna.

Tallinn Music Week that took place for the third time in 2011 as part of the programme of European Capital of Culture has grown into an internationally known festival of Estonian talent that has found a place in the busy schedules of hundreds of music industry professionals around the world. One of the most important European talent festivals The Great Escape, awarded Tallinn Music Week recently the title of “the best newish event 2011”.
