Latvia: Researchers Night activities in Ventspils

Science Center VIZIUM

From From 19:00 to 21:00, the Ventspils Science Center VIZIUM will host the Researchers’ Night on the 2nd floor, offering an exciting adventure for every visitor. Participants will have the opportunity to practically explore various scientific inventions. Using a map, visitors will need to reach science stations where they will engage in interesting tasks, experiments, and other activities, discovering inventions by Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, and Latvian scientists. By visiting each station, participants will not only gain new knowledge and spend their time creatively but also gradually decipher the secret code of the Researchers’ Night.
The event is free of charge.

Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Center
From 10:00 to 15:00, the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Center (VSRC) will offer guided tours and the chance to meet astronomers and engineers. Please note that prior registration is required by sending an application to the email [email protected].
From 19:00 to 21:00, researchers from Ventspils University and VSRC will introduce the small bodies of the solar system, explain how to hunt for the northern lights, and, weather permitting, provide opportunities to observe planets and the Moon through a telescope.
The event is free of charge.

Ventspils Digital Center
The Ventspils Digital Center offers interested individuals the chance to participate in exciting and educational activities titled “Knowledge Labyrinth.” Visitors can explore various artificial intelligence (AI) tools, try them out on their devices, and test their knowledge of the internet and scientific facts. Younger visitors will have a creative workshop where they can create a flying object of their choice, such as a plane or a robot. Additionally, there will be AI workshops in the Small Hall, where participants will learn about Microsoft Copilot and get acquainted with Google Gemini under the guidance of instructor Didzis Ābelis. In the Large Hall, various educational tasks and crossword puzzles will be available to help test knowledge about artificial intelligence and the internet.
