airBaltic Congratulates Estonia on Introducing Euro

Latvian national airline airBaltic congratulates Estonia on introducing the single European currency.

Janis Vanags, Vice President of airBaltic: “We cordially congratulate Estonia on introducing euro in 2011. airBaltic introduced euro in its lower-fare ticket sales in 2009.”

Introducing euro in 2009 was crucial for airBaltic, as the airline had expanded its business and increasingly served transit passengers to/from Europe, Middle East, Russia/CIS. The single currency helped the airline to promote its lower ticket prices compared to competitors. During 2009 and 2010 the share of transit passengers of airBaltic has grown to almost 70%.

airBaltic serves 80 destinations from its home base at Riga, Latvia. From every one of these, airBaltic offers convenient connections via North Hub Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.
