SmartLynx Airlines, a globally acknowledged ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance), cargo and charter operator, has achieved a new operational milestone, carrying the highest number of passengers in its history within a single month. In July 2024, the airline surpassed one million passengers for the first time, reaching 1.11 million.
Edvinas Demenius, CEO at SmartLynx Airlines: “At the start of the year, we predicted that passenger demand for air travel would surpass pre-pandemic levels for the first time, and our forecasts have proven accurate. Currently, demand for ACMI services exceeds supply, and our team is working actively to support our partners. Market growth would be even more significant if the industry did not lack resources like crew and technical specialists and the availability of spare parts. Judging by the circumstances, we believe that airline costs will increase next year.”
This summer, SmartLynx has provided flight capacity services to some of the busiest carriers in Europe and Southeast Asia – IndiGo, Ajet, and TUI – completing 6689 flights in July alone, a 42% increase from the previous year. Of the total flights in July, 36% were in India, and 32% were in Turkey. In July, SmartLynx operated flights to 172 destinations (airports). Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Kolkata and Hyderabad in India, and Bodrum–Mila in Turkey were among the top destinations for SmartLynx, as the airline operated numerous flights to these locations on behalf of our partners.
