Central Statistical Bureau data show that in June 2024 there were a total of 300.7 thousand arrivals at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments, which is 15.1 % more than in June 2023. Resident and non-resident visitors spent 513.3 thousand nights at the establishments, which is 10.1 % more than in June a year ago.

The number non-resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments made up 175 thousand in June 2024 (58.2 % of all arrivals), which is 20.4 % more than in June 2023 but 20.1 % fewer than in June 2019 before the pandemic outbreak and Russian invasion of Ukraine cutting the non-resident arrivals down. Non-resident visitors spent 304.9 thousand nights at the establishments and the figure has gone up by 14.5 % over the year. The average duration of stay was 1.7 nights1 (1.8 in June 2023).
The greatest number of non-resident travellers came from Lithuania (32.5 thousand), followed by Germany (22.9 thousand), Estonia (18.7 thousand), Finland (13.5 thousand), United Kingdom (8.9 thousand), Poland (7.9 thousand), USA (7.6 thousand), Sweden (5.4 thousand), Spain (4.7 thousand), and Norway (4.5 thousand).
Most non-resident visitors were hosted in Riga (64.5 %), Jūrmala (10.5 %), Liepāja (3.7 %), Mārupe municipality (2.9 %), Ventspils (2.2 %), and Sigulda municipality (2.1 %).
The number of resident arrivals registered at tourist accommodation establishments in June 2024 totalled 125.6 thousand, which is 8.5 % more than in June 2023 and 30.6 % more than in June 2019. Resident visitors spent 208.3 thousand nights at the establishments, which is 4.2 % more than a year ago. The average duration of resident stay was 1.7 nights (same figure as a year ago).
The majority of resident travellers were hosted in Riga (21.4 %), followed by Jūrmala (6.9 %), Cēsis municipality (6.4 %), Liepāja (5.6 %), Talsi municipality (4.9 %), Tukums municipality (4.4 %), Kuldīga municipality (4.2 %), and Limbaži municipality (4.1 %).
The net occupancy rate of bedrooms in hotels and similar accommodation was 50.6 % in Latvia and 61.8 % in Riga (up by 1.2 and 3.6 percentage points over the year, respectively).
In Q2 2024, 705.6 thousand arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments were registered (11.6 % more than in Q2 2023) and visitors spent 1.2 million nights at the establishments (6.4 % more). Non-resident arrivals made up 419.4 thousand (59.4 %) and resident arrivals 286.2 thousand (40.6 %).
In H1 2024, 1.1 million arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments were registered (10.7 % more than in H1 2023) and visitors spent 1.9 million nights at the establishments (5.9 % more). Non-resident arrivals made up 647.9 thousand (57.4 %) and resident arrivals 480.3 thousand (42.6 %).
