The European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 Final Celebration “Jää ja loo” will take place on Saturday, 30th of November in Tartu. The grand finale reflects on the past culture-rich year with a diverse lineup including a light show, open-air rave, performances by beloved artists, and a vibrant city buzzing with winter festivities. Legendary D&B artist Goldie and Estonian Minister of Culture Heidy Purga will be among those DJing at the event.

“We are nearing the end of the European Capital of Culture year. It has been an extraordinary journey that has given Tartu and Southern Estonia a new momentum to pursue future-oriented changes,” said Kuldar Leis, CEO of Tartu 2024. “The title ‘Jää ja loo,’ which means ‘stay and create’, symbolises endurance and the continuous process of creation with a view towards the future. We invite everyone to celebrate this culture-rich experience with family and friends.”

The Tartu 2024 Final Celebration fills the city with diverse activities. The day begins with an Elderly Disco, followed by an Ice Rink Disco and an art exhibition opening at the Town Square. After 6 PM, the renowned Estonian folk band Curly Strings will give a free concert, and at 7 PM, a series of light shows will illuminate the Toomemägi hill next to the Town Hall.

The night concludes with an open-air rave, featuring Goldie, Estonian Minister of Culture Heidy Purga, and Eero and Rene Oliver Muiste (Sound In Noise x Olivar), echoing the energy of the Tartu 2024 Grand Opening.

In addition to the headline events, Tartu will come alive with other winter activities. The opening of the Christmas Village will create a magical atmosphere in the city center, and an ice disco will offer a blend of music and skating fun. Numerous bands will also be performing across clubs and bars, bringing together music lovers to celebrate the closing of the European Capital of Culture year.
