Local chef adds spice in paradise

Tired of the winter cold? Need a bit of spice in your life? Want to try something new?

Well, for local celebrity chef Miroslav Styčinskij of “Golden Chefs” TV fame, the answer to these questions was a resounding “yes”! And, without any hesitation, he just couldn’t say no when the chance arose to work at Elements Boutique Resort & Spa – a brand-new five-star resort in Koh Samui, Thailand, already attracting great attention with its individual stylish design and great value. Chef Miroslav will be heading the kitchen at Fai restaurant, the fine dining restaurant at Elements Boutique Resort & Spa, under the direction of British entrepreneur Stephen Siddall, known to many in Vilnius for the ten years involvment in the local hotel bar and restaurant scenes.

“I recently became very interested in Asian and Fusion cooking styles and, although I’ll miss Lithuania, it’s great here – I have wild mango and papaya trees growing in my front garden”, Chef Miroslav told us. “I’m really looking forward to my new challenge as executive chef: Thai food is known to be one of the tastiest and healthiest in the world and uses a massive range of ingredients like fruit, seafood and vegetables, so I’m looking forward to the challenge of putting on my Lithuanian touch to it.” “Of course, there are some big cultural changes for me – I still can’t see the attraction of deepfried grasshoppers! But it really is a wonderful experience in the kitchen and this shows in the food we’re making. And, of course, the tropical setting helps.”

One of the top 16 tourist destinations in the world, Koh Samui boasts an exceptional choice of dining, shopping, nightlife, beaches and local attractions and is serviced by its own international airport. Whilst Lithuanians who have had the experience of Chef Miroslav’s cooking will undoubtedly miss his dining experience, we can’t really fault his decision to move to paradise to do what he loves – cooking. All we can say is good luck and don’t get sunstroke!
