German-Danish ferry company "Scandlines Group" has decided to further strengthen and develop its route network of cargo transport in the Baltic Sea Region by launching a new ferry line.
Starting from January 20, 2010 the company will offer a new combined cargo & passenger transport service between Traveminde (Germany) and Ventspils. Initially, Ventspils-Traveminde route will be effectuated by a RO-PAX vessel "Urd" two days a week in each direction. "Urd" can carry 186 passengers and has a load capacity of 1,598 lane metres.
As soon as there is a demand for the respective displacement, the company will start to operate another RO-PAX vessel.

Scandlines operates 19 ferries on nine own routes between 14 ports in the Baltic Sea. The company annually transports more than 18.5 million passengers, four million cars, one million lorries, 85,000 railway wagons and 80,000 coaches.
