Easter break in Latvia

The first week in April – Easter break – is an ideal time to spend in Latvia. March 27 to April 4, it’s the 9th international children’s film festival "Berimora kino". In the Ethnographic Open-air Museum, stroll Easter from homestead to homestead with dances and games, and rides on one or all ten swings – large and small. Also, make candles, color eggs or visit the rabbits on display. Easter will be greeted in Jurmala April 4 with various performances and a food/arts and crafts fair in Jurmala’s Open-air Museum, and attractions in Bulduri, Horn Garden and Kauguri.

Boating and canoeing in spring’s swift streams is a brisk, invigorating experience. Daily troubles are forgotten, stress is relieved, a dose of positive energy received. All this in picturesque surroundings.

For less-active activity – attend Latvia’s traditional "Bird Days" in the month of April. Nature lovers and birdwatchers can venture into the forest or elsewhere, guided by an expert ornithologist. Build birdcages and visit the exhibit “Birds in Spring”. The best time for observation – April and early May.
