On 26 April RIGA International Airport received The Emerging Market Airports Award (EMA) in the Best Airport category handling up to five million passengers per year. The first prestigious award function was held in Dubai and the award was accepted by Krišjānis Peters, Chairman of the Board of RIGA International Airport.
Krišjānis Peters, Chairman of the Board of RIGA International Airport, said: „This award is an international tribute to the achievements of all airport staff members. I am very gratified that RIGA International Airport is recognised not only in Europe, but also globally. This is the greatest acknowledgement of all.”
EMA awards celebrate the excellent results of the emerging markets airports in Middle East, Africa, India, Russia, CIS, the Baltic states that were surveyed by a diverse and discerning group of professionals involved in airports, aviation, aerospace, cargo and logistics industries. The finalists were selected by the members of an advisory panel who scrutinised every entry and analysed each company over the past twelve months.
In the recent years the whole air travel experience has become much more focussed on the time passengers spend in the airport environment. The EMA awards evaluate a broad spectrum of product and service points across the airport covering a wide variety of passenger types, and highest satisfaction ratings in a diverse market. Like any other business, an airport is striving to deliver world-class standards that should make the customer decide to use it again, and achieving this loyalty requires the highest levels of quality consistency.
The first prestigious award function was held in Dubai on 26 April, where the world's most modern airport terminal – Dubai Airport and Abu Dhabi Airport Company Terminal 3 - has recently opened its doors. It was one of the world’s largest airports ceremony events. Excellence was recognized in 21 categories of airport industry.
