The largest Estonian fair in Finland concentrates in the European Capital of Culture Tallinn

The aim of the fair in Helsinki is to present to the visitors tourism opportunities in Estonia as well as cultural events taking place in Tallinn during the year of European Capital of Culture.

Finland is the biggest target market for Estonian tourism and the European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 expects most of its foreign visitors to come from Finland. Therefore the St Martin’s Fair is a great opportunity to give the potential visitors a fresh and thorough overview about the events to be expected.

The programme of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 will be presented in the Tallinn information stand as well as through the overall cultural programme of the fair with performances by Villu Veski, Tiit Kaljuste, Svjata Vatra and Tallinn 2011’s own Trumm-It, Estonian Music & Design Café and the mixed choir of the European Capital of Culture.

St Martin’s fair will show that cultural events will happen all over Estonia during next year. In the special „culture circle“ partners of European Capital of Culture Estonia National Opera, Kumu Art Museum, Jazzkaar and the soon to be opened KGB museum of hotel Viru will present themselves.

Also in the programme of the St Martin’s fair are several workshops – a business workshop in the Estonian embassy, a seminar about Estonia’s multiculturalism and language policies in the University of Helsinki and a tourism workshop in the Cable Factory. There will also be exciting workshops for children.

The main venue of the St Martin’s fair, the Cable Factory will be open for visitors on Saturday the 20th of November from 10 am to 18 pm and on Sunday the 21st of November from 10 am to 17 pm. It is expected that more than 14 000 people will visit the fair.

The St Martins Fair will take place at the initiative of Tuglas Seura for the 27th time and this year in cooperation with the Foundation Tallinn 2011 and the Estonian Tourism Board.
