airBaltic Offers Online Vacancy

Latvian national airline airBaltic is taking part in the Shadow Day 2011 and has invited young talents to team up for a day with professionals such as pilots, flight attendants, engineers, technicians, and others. airBaltic has been overwhelmed by interest from students. As the airline cannot accommodate all of the applicants, airBaltic has created a virtual shadow experience – Online Vacancy. airBaltic is the first company in history of Shadow Days to create an Online Vacancy that an unlimited number of students can follow via online video.

Jānis Vanags, Vice President Corporate Communications: “It is so easy – you simply open airBaltic Internet page on your computer or mobile phone and watch our professional at work.”

airBaltic has already received over 700 applications from students, and is currently the most popular company among the participants of the event. As the number of vacancies is limited, airBaltic has responded by creating an Online Vacancy that thousands of young talents can follow during the Shadow Day behind their computer screens or on mobile phones.

Mārtiņš Rītiņš, the renowned chef of the Baltic region who created airBaltic’s organic business class menu, has agreed to become the first professional to go online with real-time video webcast. During the Shadow Day, the eye of the Online Vacancy video camera will also focus on engineers, technicians and other professionals at airBaltic.

The video webcast of the Online Vacancy will be available on airBaltic webpage www.airbaltic.com, airBaltic blog and social media pages, as well as the official Shadow Day webpage www.enudiena.lv

Students can apply for the Shadow Day at www.enudiena.lv. This year, airBaltic has also announced a special “Golden Vacancy”. To apply for the “Golden Vacancy,” students are requested to prepare a video presentation about airBaltic, post it on YouTube, write to [email protected] by February 11, and make sure that as many people as possible watch the YouTube video. The applicant with the best results and application will choose any of airBaltic professionals to shadow, and also enjoy a flight for two to any airBaltic destination in Europe, Middle East, and the CIS.

Last year, airBaltic offered six vacancies and received 274 applications making airBaltic the highest-ranking company in the Shadow Day 2010.
