Latvian national airline airBaltic has 610 female employees comprising 45% from the total number of employees. airBaltic currently employs 1443 professionals. The staff of the airline represents almost 30 nations.
Women are represented in all of the company’s departments and in all roles, including airline operations which has traditionally been a male-dominated environment. Laila Odiņa, Chief Operations Officer of airBaltic, is the only female airline COO in Europe and one of only three in the world, according to AirlineLeader survey in December 2010.
The highest percentage of women at airBaltic represent Cabin crew – out of 417 cabin attendants 80% are female. The second highest female-to-male ratio is in the Commercial department, where women are 64% out of 126-strong team.
Female pilots are 3% or 9 out of 291 pilots in total. Two of them are captains.
In technical department, there are 14 women out of 204 employees in total, or 6,8%. Among them – 4 engineers, including 2 Boeing 737 Type engineers.
