Vilnius airport welcomes the second Air Lituanica aircraft

On the 5^th of September, 5:15 pm local time the second Air Lituanica aircraft Embraer 175 landed in the Vilnius International Airport. The 86-seater reached Lithuania from Brazil. Air Lituanica is leasing its second aircraft directly from the manufacturer’s (Embraer) subsidiary ECC Leasing.

‘The flight market itself along with the growing number of air passengers prompts us to gradually shape and expand our fleet. Therefore, the lease of a second aircraft and the expanding route map are part of a well-directed activity plan based on careful market analysis and general strategy of the company,’ said the CEO of Air Lituanica Erikas Zubrus. ‘By 2015 we expect to be serving 13-16 routes, so the number of aircraft in our fleet will continue to grow.’

The flight from Brazil took 3 days, so on its way the aircraft had to land in four airports. After initial take-off from the Tancredo Neves International (CNF; Belo Horizonte, Brazil) the new Air Lituanica Embraer had landed in Guararapes (REC; Recife, Brazil), Amilcar Cabral (SID; Espargos, Cape Verde) and Seville (SVQ; Sevilla, Spain) airports before reaching its final destination – Vilnius International.

Embraer 175 is painted using the official corporate airline colours. The body of the aircraft is white with several red company logos whilst its entire tail is covered in red also featuring the majestic seal of Vytautas the Great.

The second Air Lituanica aircraft will take off on its first route to Brussels on the 15^th of September. From the 20^th of September it will start carrying passengers to Prague and from the 21^st – to Munich.

The first company’s aircraft Embraer 170 which can accommodate 76 passengers reached Vilnius International from the UK on the 22^nd of June. The aircraft is being leased from the company Estonian Air.

Embraer E-Jet-type aircraft are among the most popular regional planes in the world. Its manufacturer which produces aircraft accommodating up to 110 passengers is the global leader in the segment of regional aircraft production and the third largest manufacturer of commercial planes in the world.
