Recreational opportunities in Ķemeri National Park

Each winter and spring, Ķemeri National Park offers unforgettable moments in untouched nature, a chance to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This year, for the fourth year, ski tourism will take place in Ķemeri National Park. Ski tours will be held in the park in February and March. These events will last two-and-a-half hours and will take visitors along the Baltic Sea and coastal sand-dunes. While skiing along the sea, Nature Conservation Agency experts will acquaint visitors with local natural wonders and their importance.

The end of winter and the beginning of spring is the time when owls are most active. It is common knowledge that Ķemeri National Park is home to a variety of nesting owls – tawny owls, long-eared owls and such rare owls as pygmy and Eurasian eagle can be spotted in the park. Therefore the Ķemeri National Park Foundation organizes an owl watching tour and invites all nature enthusiasts to become familiar with the mysterious and peculiar world of wild birds.

Ķemeri National Park, like a fragile jewel, contains natural values wonders that  have already become rare in Latvia and Europe – intact high moss marshes, damp black alder forests, floodplain meadows and seaside lakes rich in birds. It is a shelter and place of residence for many rare and protected plant and animal species – glorious and easily noticeable, as well as subtle and hardly visible.

Participation is free of charge; date and time depend on weather conditions. Regarding specific dates, please contact the Jurmala Tourism Information Center or the Ķemeri National Park Tourism Information Center.
