The airline Air Lituanica is expanding its business in Germany –
as of 30 April the city of Hamburg will be added to the regular flight
schedule with flights operated three times a week.
“Germany – Berlin and Munich – directions of Air Lituanica,
which has accelerated in 2014, particularly improved the incoming
tourism, so we believe Hamburg will contribute to the flow of tourists
to Lithuania as well. The opening of this route is a certain record,
since we will operate more direct flights from Vilnius International
Airport to Germany than any other airline company has ever did – as much
as 16 flights per week in three directions”, says Simonas Bartkus,
Chief Commerce Office at Air Lituanica.

Mr. Bartkus adds the company plans to carry at least 8 thousand
passengers during the first summer season, about 5 thousand of whom
should be Germans arriving in Vilnius for tourism and business matters.
Germany’s second largest city Hamburg is the economic and
cultural centre of Northern Germany, with the population of 1.7 million.
Taking into account the entire geographical region, the city is the
capital of shopping, entertainment and other cultural events for as many
as 3.5 million inhabitants. Undoubtedly, the key economic factor of the
city is its port – the second largest port in Europe. Hamburg is the
eighth largest city in the European Union and the EU’s largest city that
 is not a capital.
Hamburg is distinguished for its abundance of bridges and
canals For example, there are around 2.5 thousand bridges and that is
even more than in Amsterdam and Venice combined. Hamburg, like Vilnius,
is a very green city – the green spaces account for even 14% of the city area.
Flights to Hamburg will be operated three times a week: on
Tuesdays, Thursdays and on Sundays. Flight duration is 1 hour 45
minutes. Flights will be operated by 86-seat aircraft Embraer 175 and
46-seat Embraer 145.
Tickets are already available; ticket fares start from EUR 49
EUR. Tickets to Hamburg as well as to other already usual directions can
be purchased on Air Lituanica website or through other flight search
engines and in travel agencies. Air Lituanica also operates direct
flights from Vilnius to Stockholm, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin,
Munich and Tallinn as well as seasonal flights to Prague and Billund.
