In Pierīga, Midsummer never begins in just one place. It starts everywhere at once – in cultural centres, meadows, parks, and by the water – and gradually gathers into one large, warm feeling where time becomes elastic. Let’s take a look at what you might experience this year.
ROPAŽI MUNICIPALITY
Reklāma
In Ropaži, Midsummer begins like a gentle opening conversation, but very quickly turns into a living rhythm that simply carries you away.
It all starts with wreath-making, where you suddenly realize that “just making a wreath” is not simple at all. Then come cheese-making workshops, performances and concerts, and you slowly realize you are already fully inside the celebration.
And then Ropaži simply turns on the next level.
One evening you are in Garkalne, in a meadow filled with songs and dances; the next you are in Upesciems listening to a concert by Ance Krauze. Everything feels summery and powerful.
In Ulbroka and Ropaži Park there is no longer a question of “will I stay?”. There is only “when did this all turn into night?”.
In Ropaži, Midsummer is not an event. It is a movement.
MĀRUPE MUNICIPALITY
In Mārupe, Midsummer starts like a menu.
In Piņķi, everything is still beautifully structured – workshops, concerts, dances over water, fire shows. A kind of “pre-Midsummer mosaic”.
But then evening arrives, and Mārupe suddenly switches from “plan A” to “we’ll see where this takes us”.
Jaunmārupe becomes a place where time disappears very politely – without warning, but with music and Apvedceļš.
In Spuņciems, everything is softer, but in a good way – Midsummer there feels like a conversation that accidentally lasts until morning.
And somewhere between all these places, Mārupe creates that feeling that Midsummer is happening “here and now”.
OLAINE MUNICIPALITY
In Olaine, Midsummer begins with the idea: “let’s try something creative”.
And then you suddenly find yourself in a workshop making something you didn’t even know was possible – and it turns out surprisingly beautiful.
Everything here is slightly practical and slightly magical at the same time – wreaths, cheese, colours, the scent of nature, and people discovering a very calm creativity within themselves.
In Jaunolaine, the evening becomes wider. A lake, music, dancing, and that feeling that this is one of those nights that later stays in memory without any specific reason – just “it was nice”.
SALASPILS MUNICIPALITY
In Salaspils, Midsummer begins quietly – with light, workshops, and closeness to the river.
But it quickly becomes clear that this evening is not meant for passive watching.
When Dandari arrives, everything switches into another mode – a rhythm where you are no longer an observer, you are part of the movement.
And then comes fire.
And in that moment Salaspils becomes very simple – everything unnecessary disappears, leaving only people, warmth, and the feeling that this evening is something older than all of us.
ĶEKAVA MUNICIPALITY
Ķekava does not divide Midsummer into separate events – it spreads it across the entire municipality like one continuous story.
In one day you can be at a theatre performance where Silmači suddenly feels very relevant, then find yourself in a place where fire and silence work together like meditation, and later sit at an open-air cinema where A Limousine in the Colour of Midsummer Night hits exactly right.
And when you think it is already over, the real night begins.
With music, fire, and the feeling that this municipality simply does not allow Midsummer to end quickly.
ĀDAŽI MUNICIPALITY
In Ādaži, Midsummer starts slowly and gradually draws you deeper into its rhythm. It begins at Līgo Park with the KUKŪ Market. Then the “Herb Day family cycling ride” in Zibeņi brings a fresh, active rhythm.
And then come the sunrises. In Carnikava and at Dūņezers, Midsummer transforms into morning on the water – boats, SUP boards, breakfast, and the feeling that the day begins again while others are still asleep.
In the evening, Carnikava Park continues with the dance performance ABI DIVI, followed by music with Katrīna Dimanta, Folk Kardio, and an open-air dance party with Papīra Lidmašīnas.
And when 23 June arrives, Ādaži closes with a final impulse of night rhythm – the fire show BONFIRE and Džentlmeņu Špagats.
In Pierīga, Midsummer always begins with “I’ll just stay for a moment”. And ends with you no longer being able to say exactly where you stopped being just an observer.
Everything moves a little faster, a little warmer, and lasts a little longer than you planned.
And maybe that is exactly why these celebrations succeed every year – because no one truly controls them.
They simply carry you away.
