«airBaltic» Starts 2025 Strong with Record January Passenger Numbers

Following a record-breaking year in 2024, the Latvian airline airBaltic has started 2025 strongly, setting new benchmarks for passenger numbers and load factor in January. Last month, the airline carried 327 500 passengers across all its bases, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. The load factor rose to 75.4%, reflecting a significant year-over-year increase of 3.6 percentage points. These results mark the highest-ever January passenger traffic in the airline's history.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “We are pleased to see more passengers choosing airBaltic as their preferred airline, showing our positions as the leading carrier in the region. Our focus remains on providing top-tier global connectivity from the region to destinations worldwide, while continuously enhancing the travel experience. With our extensive network across Europe and beyond, along with the upcoming introduction of complimentary high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet on our flights, we are confident that our passenger numbers will continue to grow.”

Recently, airBaltic announced its highest-ever annual passenger numbers for 2024, with a total of 8.3 million passengers carried and 73 300 flights operated (including all passenger types and airlines ACMI-out operations). Preliminary data for 2024 indicates that the airline has surpassed its pre-pandemic records, highlighting its strong growth and continued success.

airBaltic operates more than 130 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere and, seasonally, Gran Canaria, offering connections to a wide range of destinations in the airline's route network in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
